The Hearth: An Ayurveda-Inspired Day Retreat in Omaha

I’m opening up my home for a day of warmth, nourishment, and rest as we move into the colder months.

In Ayurveda, late autumn is Vata season: cool, dry, windy, and always on the move. Many of us feel it as restlessness, scattered energy, poor sleep, or plain exhaustion. Ayurveda answers with warmth, grounding, and simple nourishment, and that’s what this day offers.

The name comes from Agni, the inner fire Ayurveda sees as the source of our digestion, vitality, and clarity. The hearth has always been the heart of a home, where we gather to be warmed and fed. The Hearth is a day for tending both fires.

Your day includes:

  • Grounding movement: gentle, intentional movement to settle the nervous system. Welcoming to all levels.
  • Kitchari and warming tea: a traditional Ayurvedic meal of mung beans and rice, slow-cooked with ghee and digestive spices. It’s easy to digest and deeply comforting.
  • Vedic fire ceremony: an ancient ritual of offering and intention, where we let go of what no longer serves us and welcome what we want to grow.
  • Sound bowl experience: rest in stillness while the tones and vibrations of singing bowls carry you into deep calm.

This is a small, intimate gathering, so space is limited.
